About Silke
Einblicke in den Werdegang und die Inspiration hinter den Ölgemälden von Silke Kiefer.
Silke Kiefer was born in Gießen, Germany in 1967. As a young girl she loved to spend hours hiking the country side with a dog by her side. She was very interested in wild animals, especially in wolves, always read about this subject and painted these animals in her spare time. Growing up she maintained her love to nature and wildlife and in addition to that, she developed an interest in the Western American history and the Indian culture.
Her first encounter with Western Art was a visit to the “Indian Art Festival” in 2004. Her heart leaped as she viewed the paintings of Jens Röser and she was stunned: the beautiful color and the beautiful light, the vast horizon and the gorgeous skies…
This experience evoked the desire to paint herself. Since that time Silke took painting lessons, collected the “ART of the WEST” magazine and studied the Western artists.
Silke creates colorful oil paintings and drawings that show wildlife within their landscape habitat and people being an integral part of these scenes. Her intend is to give a glimpse into another life, another period of history and to depict the mystery, spirit and fascination of wildlife.
Beside the upbringing of her son, the job and the care for the dog, she can not work on paintings all day long, but she tries to dive into her paintings as often as possible in order to become a better painter every painting.
Germany is inundated with houses, roads and cities. In her paintings Silke leaves the beaten path and takes the roads less travelled… ...always a dream of the big wide-open sky in her mind…
